This project is classified as a road construction project and includes a significant number of structural interventions and technical work aimed at:

• the urban regeneration of areas in the Municipality of Piraeus

• the proliferation of urban greenery

• the exploitation of communal areas

• traffic decongestion and

• the improvement of particular road infrastructures serving people with limited mobility or other problems as well as children.

More specifically the interventions included:

• Radical redevelopment in three squares.

• The formation of a new square.

• The formation, improvement and extension of contemporarily designed, safe children’s playgrounds in the squares in question.

• The construction of sports facilities of a moderate scale.

• Improvement and extension of pavements for safe access to the squares, particularly for disabled persons.

• Pedestrianization of six streets to facilitate traffic and benefit recreation.

• Improvement of urban equipment such as electrical lighting, waste bins, protective posts, sinking bars controlling entrance-exits and placing of urban waste bins in basement areas.

• Tree-planting and green areas along the new pedestrian zones, in the redeveloped squares and on pavements.
