A roadwork project in the prefecture of Kilkis, the border region between the village of Idomeni and the border post at Evzoni, which linked the Patras – Athens – Thessaloniki motorway with the Polykastro – Idomeni provincial road, and connected the customs posts at Idomeni and Evzoni as well as the settlements of the same name, through which the Axios River flows. The total length of the newly constructed road amounts to 3.4 km. The primary purpose of the newly constructed road was the 300.00m-long bridge over the Axios River with ten openings. Construction also included a smaller overpass on the new road at the point where it crosses the railway line, two technical rural underpasses, box and tubular culverts, the necessary safety signs and installation of lighting all along the road, at the intersections and technical points and finally the necessary landscaping (grassing of slopes, planting of trees and other plants).
